Initial Certification Audit
Step 1
- Confirm that the management systems manual conforms to the requirements of the required standard;
- Preparation of a report that identifies any non-compliance or potential for non- compliances;
- Confirm the scope of certification including any justifiable exclusions;
- Preparation of an assessment plan and confirm a date for the stage 2 assessment visit;
- Check legislative compliance;
- Agree a corrective action plan if required.
Step 2
- Undertake sample audits of the processes and activities defined in the scope of assessment;
- Produce an audit programme and confirm a month and year for the first surveillance visit;
- Document how the system complies with the standard;
- Report any non-compliances or observations.

FSSC 22000
What is FSSC 22000?
FSSC 22000 is a Food Safety Management Certification Scheme, managed by Foundation FSSC 22000. The Foundation is governed by an independent Board of Stakeholders and includes representatives from several sectors in the food industry. The requirements of this standard provides a well-structured framework to manage your food safety risks, although this is not the only standard that is applied for this purpose.
The FSSC 22000 Certification Scheme is recognised by GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) and incorporates ISO 22000, sector specific prerequisite programmes (PRP’s) such as ISO/TS 22002-1 and ISO/TS 22002, HACCP and other requirements.
